BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) ? A new pope from Latin America known for ministering to the poor in his country's slums is raising the hopes of advocates of liberation theology, whose leftist social activism had alarmed previous pontiffs.
Prominent liberation theologian Leonardo Boff said Pope Francis has what it takes to fix a church "in ruins" and shares his movement's commitment to building a church for the world's poor.
"With this pope, a Jesuit and a pope from the Third World, we can breathe happiness," Boff said Saturday at a Buenos Aires book fair. "Pope Francis has both the vigor and tenderness that we need to create a new spiritual world."
The 74-year-old Brazilian theologian was pressured to remain silent by previous popes who tried to draw a hard line between socially active priests and leftist politics. As Argentina's leading cardinal before he became pope, Francis reinforced this line, suggesting in 2010 that reading the Gospel with a Marxist interpretation only gets priests in trouble.
But Boff says the label of a closed-minded conservative simply doesn't fit with Francis.
"Pope Francis comes with the perspective that many of us in Latin America share. In our churches we do not just discuss theological theories, like in European churches. Our churches work together to support universal causes, causes like human rights, from the perspective of the poor, the destiny of humanity that is suffering, services for people living on the margins."
The liberation theology movement, which seeks to free lives as well as souls, emerged in the 1960s and quickly spread, especially in Latin America. Priests and church laypeople became deeply involved in human rights and social struggles. Some were caught up in clashes between repressive governments and rebels, sometimes at the cost of their lives.
The movement's martyrs include El Salvador's Archbishop Oscar Romero, whose increasing criticism of his country's military-run government provoked his assassination as he was saying Mass in 1980. He was killed by thugs connected to the military hierarchy a day after he preached that "no soldier is obliged to obey an order that is contrary to the will of God." His killing presaged a civil war that killed nearly 90,000 over the next 12 years.
Romero's beatification cause languished under popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI due to their opposition to liberation theology, but he was put back on track to becoming a saint days after Francis became pope.
Scores of other liberation theologians were killed in the 1970s and 1980s. Six Jesuit teachers were slaughtered at their university in El Salvador in 1989. Other priests and lay workers were tortured and vanished in the prisons of Chile and Argentina. Some were shot to death while demanding land rights for the poor in Brazil. A handful went further and picked up arms, or died accompanying rebel columns as chaplains, such as American Jesuit James Carney, who died in Honduras in 1983.
While even John Paul embraced the "preferential option for the poor" at the heart of the movement, some church leaders were unhappy to see church intellectuals mixing doses of Marxism and class struggle into their analysis of the Gospel. It was a powerfully attractive mixture for idealistic Latin Americans who were raised in Catholic doctrine, educated by the region's army of Marxist-influenced teachers, and outraged by the hunger, inequality and bloody repression all around them.
John Paul and his chief theologian, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, drove some of the most ardent and experimental liberation theologians out of the priesthood, castigated some of those who remained, and ensured that the bishops and cardinals they promoted took a wary view of leftist social activism.
Yet much of the movement remained, practiced by thousands of grassroots "base communities" working out of local parishes across the hemisphere, nurtured by nuns, priests and a few bishops who put freedom from hunger, poverty and social injustice at the heart of the Church's spiritual mission.
Hundreds of advocates at a conference in Brazil last year declared themselves ready for a comeback.
"At times embers are hidden beneath the ashes," said the meeting's final declaration, which expressed hopes of stirring ablaze "a fire that lights other fires in the church and in society."
Boff and other advocates are thrilled that this new pope spent so much time ministering in the slums, and are inspired by his writings, which see no heresy in social action.
"The option for the poor comes from the first centuries of Christianity. It is the Gospel itself," said then-Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio during a 2010 deposition in a human rights trial. He said that if he were to repeat "any of the sermons from the first fathers of the church, from the 2nd or 3rd century, about how the poor must be treated, they would say that mine would be Maoist or Trotskyite."
Msgr. Gregorio Rosa Chavez, the auxiliary bishop of San Salvador, said Romero and Francis have the same vision of the church. "When he says 'a church that is poor and for the poor,' that is what Monsignor Romero said so many times," he said.
Rosa Chavez said neither cardinal was among the most radical of churchmen.
"There are many theologies of liberation," he said. "The pope represents one of these currents, the most pastoral current, the current that combines action with teaching." He described Francis' version as "theologians on foot, who walk with the people and combine reflection with action," and contrasted them with "theologians of the desk, who are from university classrooms."
John Paul II himself embraced the term "liberation theology," but was also credited with inspiring resistance to the communist regime in his native Poland, and was allergic to socialist pieties.
For 30 years, the Vatican has been seeding Latin America, Africa and Asia with cardinals "who have tended to be, adverse, to put it kindly, to liberation theology," said Stacey Floyd-Thomas, a professor of ethics and society at Vanderbilt University Divinity School.
In Brazil, Sao Paulo Archbishop Odilo Scherer, widely considered a possible pope, told the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper last year that liberation theology "lost its reason of being because of its Marxist ideological underpinnings . which are incompatible with Christian theology."
"It had its merits by helping bring back into focus matters like social justice, international justice and the liberation of oppressed peoples. But these were always constant themes in the teachings of the Church," Scherer said.
In 1984, Ratzinger put Boff in Galileo's chair for a Vatican inquisition over his writings, eventually stripping him of his church functions and ordering him to spend a year in "obedient silence." Nearly a decade later, in 1993, the Vatican pressured him again, and he quit the Franciscan order.
Now Boff says Francis has brought a "new spring" to the global church.
"Josef Ratzinger. He was against the cause of the poor, liberation theology," Boff said. "But this is from last century. Now we are under a new Pope."

Michael Jordan got married over the weekend in front of a few hundred of his family and closest friends.
The Charlotte Bobcats owner exchanged vows with 35-year-old former model Yvette Prieto on Saturday in Palm Beach, Fla., Jordan's manager Estee Portnoy told The Associated Press Sunday
The wedding took place at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea with nearly 300 guests in attendance, including Tiger Woods, Patrick Ewing, Spike Lee and Ahmad Rashad.
The ceremony was followed by a reception at the Bear's Club in Jupiter, Fla., a luxurious private golf club designed by Jack Nicklaus. Jordan, 50, owns a home near the course.
There were fireworks at night as part of the celebration.
In lieu of wedding gifts, donations were made to the James R. Jordan Foundation. The wedding flowers were donated to the Jupiter Medical Center.
The six-time NBA champion and Prieto met five years ago and were engaged last December.
Prieto wore a French silk voile corseted sheer sheath gown by J'Aton Couture, in an ecru palette with accents of flesh tones, with handmade silk lace created especially for her, and enhanced with Swarovski crystals. The gown featured French seamed crinoline borders, which cascaded into a dramatic cathedral train finished in the lace, with accents of a peacock-feathered design.
The entertainment included DJ MC Lyte, singers K'Jon, Robin Thicke and Grammy-Award winner Usher and The Source, an 18-piece band.
The guests were served an all-white, seven-layer white rum wedding cake that was covered in white fondant and sugar crystals, and adorned with crystal brooches and the couples' monogram on the top layer.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The House of Representatives is expected to act quickly on Friday to finalize a Senate plan to ease nationwide air-traffic delays caused by last month's automatic federal spending cuts.
The Senate plan, passed unanimously late Thursday, will give the Department of Transportation flexibility to use unspent funds to cover the costs of air traffic controllers and other essential employees at the Federal Aviation Administration who had been furloughed.
Lawmakers were eager to act quickly since many would be scrambling to catch flights home and to other destinations at the start of a weeklong recess.
They also sought to avoid the growing wrath of the traveling public, which had dealt with significant take-off and landing delays since the furloughs started on Sunday.
The legislative action marks a surprising bipartisan effort, especially after many Republicans had blamed the Obama administration for manipulating funds to maximize the impact of the budget cuts, in a perceived bid to damage Republicans.
It does come with the risk, though, of unleashing furious lobbying campaigns to ease other program cuts triggered by the controversial "sequestration" that took effect on March 1, requiring across-the-board spending cuts among most federal agencies.
The White House on Friday welcomed Congress' move, but said it falls short of broader action needed to address sequestration.
"It will be good news for America's traveling public if Congress spares them these unnecessary delays," White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement.
Carney said lawmakers need to take additional steps to alleviate the impact felt beyond the airline industry from the cuts, such as among poorer elderly people, defense industry workers and others brought on by sequestration.
"Ultimately, this is no more than a temporary Band-Aid that fails to address the overarching threat to our economy posed by the sequester's mindless across-the-board cuts," he said.
Transportation officials have made other cuts to their budget but furloughs of air traffic controllers began this week, prompting traveler backlash at major hubs like those in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
On Friday morning, departing flights at Newark Liberty International Airport were delayed more than an hour and 15 minutes, and Boston's Logan Airport had departure delays of more than 30 minutes, both due to staffing, the FAA said. Teterboro airport in New Jersey, which handles many corporate jets, also was experiencing delays of more than 90 minutes due to staffing.

Concerns about safety conditions in garment factories sourced by Western retailers were revived when a factory collapsed after serious cracks were found in the building yesterday.

But where would the money come from if she did not go to work? Taslima's mother asked her before heading off to work like normal.
This evening, Taslima is in tears, sitting by her mother?s body in a makeshift mortuary. Her mother was one of the more than 125 killed when the eight floor building collapsed on the outskirts of Bangladesh?s capital, Dhaka. Some 800 more were injured.?As search-and-rescue efforts continue, those numbers are likely to rise, say witnesses, who report that hundreds of people may still be trapped in the rubble.
An inspection team visited Rana Plaza, where the factory building is located in the suburb of Savar, the day before the collapse and asked the owner to keep the building closed after they identified cracks in it. That instruction, however, was ignored.
The incident is not an aberration for Bangladesh. It comes on the heels of a series of factory disasters, the latest just five months ago, when a fire ripped through the Tazreen factory in Dhaka while workers were trapped inside:?More than 100 died. The collapse?revives concerns about the poor working conditions, code violations, and garment owner negligence that has racked the world's second-largest garment-exporting country, where firms produce clothing for high-profile brands including Gap, H&M, and?Wal-Mart.?
?This is an example of the most irresponsible and insensible work by the authority,? says Selim Newaj Bhuiyan, former deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defense. Mr. Bhuiyan has attended to some of the deadliest factory fires and collapses in Dhaka. ?When the building was warned, how could the authorities ask the workers to come to work?? he asks. Bhuiyan places the blame on building and factory authorities.
One worker at the factory, Sumi, described coming to work at 8:00 a.m., despite what she calls a subconscious fear in her mind.
When debris began falling from the ceiling of the fifth floor where she worked, it was already too late for her to escape. She was trapped inside along with hundreds of others as the floors collapsed one after another. Firefighters pulled her out five hours later. She was receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
On the seventh floor, right after meeting with production managers and supervisors, Shariful Islam was returning to his work when suddenly he heard a loud noise.
?Immediately we fell several stories down faster than an elevator?s speed,? says Mr. Islam, a quality checker at New Wave Bottoms, one of the factories that rented the building (the others included New Wave Style, Ether Tex, and Canton Tech Apparel, according to CNN).
?I closed my eyes as the entire place was engulfed with dust. A stitching machine fell on my left leg,? says Islam, who later managed to escape the building with the help of two co-workers. ?All I could see were dead bodies all around me.?
At least 630 people have died in more than 30 incidents since 1990, according to the Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies.?Eight years ago, another factory collapse outside Dhaka killed about 70 workers.?In most cases factory owners have been identified flouting safety standards, but very few of them are brought to court.
Former President of the?Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA)?Abdus Salam Murshedy told The Christian Science Monitor that since the Tazreen fire last November officials are working to inspect and identify the many buildings not up to code.
It takes time, he says, to look into the licenses of all of Bangladesh's factories.
According to a fact-finding report of Bangladeshi human rights organization Odhikar, the Chief Inspector of Bangladesh?s Factories and Establishment renewed Tazreen?s safety inspection without even visiting the premises. A token sum of money was enough for the factory authorities to ?get the application [for factory operations] approved on mobile phone,? according to Odhikar?s report.
?Only compensation [for the victims and their families] and mourning such incidents are not enough. There are many vulnerable factories that are not looked into,? says Babul Akhter, president of Bangladesh Garment and Industrial Workers? Federation. Mr. Akhter urges international buyers to be more cautious while placing orders to the suppliers and ensure that the suppliers comply with the standards.
Bangladesh?s garment industry, the second largest garment exporter in the world, makes up 80 percent of country?s export revenue. The garment sector earned $19 billion from exports in the financial year that ended in June 2012.
?We will investigate this incident jointly with the government and make it public,? says the current president of the BGMEA, Atiqul Islam.

SEOUL (Reuters) - LG Display Co Ltd reported its smallest profit since it returned to the black in the second quarter of last year, as demand for iPhone and iPad screens from Apple weakened amid concerns the U.S. company is losing its luster in the mobile device market.
Apple Inc, which analysts say provides about 30 percent of LG Display's revenue, is facing intensifying competition from Samsung and up-and-coming rivals. A disappointing forecast by a U.S. supplier to Apple last week heightened fears about slowing demand for the iPhone and iPad, pushing shares of Asian suppliers including LG Display sharply lower.
LG Display, which vies with Samsung Electronics Co Ltd's panel unit for the top position in LCD flat screens globally, made 151 billion won ($135 million) in operating profit in its January-March first quarter. That compared with the average forecast of a 147 billion won profit in a Thomson Reuters poll of analysts.
It was the South Korean company's fourth straight quarterly profit after seven straight quarters of losses, as makers of liquid crystal display panels have since curtailed output after about two years of oversupply.
The result was also a sharp improvement from a loss of 211 billion won a year earlier. But it was down 74 percent from the previous quarter, hurt by a seasonal slowdown in demand and by weaker sales to Apple, which is scheduled to report quarterly results on Tuesday.
Sales of tablet and smartphone panels, which are largely bought by Apple, accounted for 27 percent of LG Display's total screen shipments in the first quarter, down from 31 percent in the fourth quarter.
Jay Yoo, an analyst at Korea Investment & Securities, estimated before the results announcement that LG Display's panel shipments for the iPhone 5 and the latest iPad had fallen 42 percent and 66 percent, respectively, from the prior quarter as Apple struggles with slowing sales growth.
On Tuesday, Apple is expected to report just an 8 percent increase in revenue for its fiscal second quarter, among the weakest showings in years, according to analysts' estimates.
Still, analysts see earnings for LG Display improving in the coming quarters as Apple is expected to introduce upgraded products later this year, and as demand for mobile device screens from affiliate LG Electronics Inc increases.
Samsung Securities analyst Harrison Cho expects Apple to introduce a less costly iPhone around July, helping LG Display improve its sales to Apple from June when initial parts shipments are expected to begin.
LG Display said on Monday that it expects panel shipments will rise by 5 percent to 10 percent in the second quarter from the previous quarter.
Shares in LG Display have fallen about 3 percent in the year to date, compared with a roughly 5 percent drop in the benchmark KOSPI index. The stock closed 2.2 percent higher prior to the results announcement.

Verdi, representing 33,000 staff at the airline, announced the strike action on Friday to put pressure on Lufthansa management to make a better pay offer.
The union said the offer put forward by Lufthansa on Wednesday was "scandalous."
As with previous strikes, Lufthansa canceled mainly short-haul flights in order to keep more profitable long-haul flights in the air.
Lufthansa has estimated the strike will cost it tens of millions of euros and has described the labor action "absurd" and "out of proportion", given the early stage of negotiations.
"Despite an offer being made by Lufthansa in the last round of negotiations, despite constructive talks and further dates for more talks, Verdi is once again holding our customers hostage in this pay dispute," said Stefan Lauer on Friday.
Lauer is Lufthansa's executive board member for personnel and is leading the pay talks, although he is stepping down by the end of June.
Lufthansa's offer was to raise salaries by 1.2 percent from October this year and a further 0.5 percent a year later, in a deal that would run for 29 months and would not contain job guarantees.
Verdi wants a 5.2 percent pay rise for cabin crew and ground staff at Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Technik, Lufthansa Systems, catering unit LSG Sky Chefs and ground crews. It is also seeking a commitment by Lufthansa to safeguard jobs.
Staff represented by Verdi have already held a one-day strike on March 21, forcing Lufthansa to cancel nearly 40 percent of its average 1,750 flights for the day.
Lufthansa also recommended passengers restrict themselves to hand baggage where possible, in an attempt to avoid the sort of queues seen at check-in desks in Frankfurt during March's strike.
Passengers with tickets for flights within Germany will be able to travel on the Deutsche Bahn train network instead.

Apr. 17, 2013 ? Exosomes are small, virus-like particles that can transport genetic material and signal substances between cells. Researchers at Lund University, Sweden, have made new findings about exosomes released from aggressive brain tumours, gliomas. These exosomes are shown to have an important function in brain tumour development, and could be utilised as biomarkers to assess tumour aggressiveness through a blood test.
"Current wisdom says that cells are closed entities that communicate through the secretion of soluble signalling molecules. Recent findings indicate that cells can exchange more complex information -- whole packages of genetic material and signalling proteins. This is an entirely new conception of how cells communicate," says Dr Mattias Belting, Professor of Oncology at Lund University and senior consultant in oncology at Sk?ne University Hospital, Lund, Sweden.
Exosomes are small vesicles of only 30-90 nm. They are produced inside cells and act as "transport vehicles" of genetic material that can be transferred to surrounding cells. Since their first discovery, exosomes have been found in blood, saliva, urine, breast milk and other body fluids.
Mattias Belting's research group has investigated exosomes released from tumour cells of patients with gliomas. The tiny exosome particles are delivered from the tumour to healthy cells of the brain and may prime normal tissue for efficient spreading of the tumour. The researchers in Lund have now shown that the aggressiveness of the tumour is reflected in the exosome molecular profile.
"We have succeeded in developing a method for the isolation of exosomes from brain tumour patients through a relatively simple blood test. Our analyses indicate that the content of exosomes mirrors the aggressiveness of the tumour in a unique manner," says postdoctoral researcher Paulina Kucharzewska.
Exosomes could thus be utilised as biomarkers, i.e. to provide guidance on how the patient should be treated and to monitor treatment response. This possibility is particularly attractive with brain tumours that are not readily accessible for tissue biopsy. However, analysis of exosomes from the blood may also prove important with other tumour types. The value of conventional tumour biopsies is limited by the heterogeneity of tumour tissue, i.e. the tissue specimen may not be fully representative of the biological characteristics of a particular tumour. Exosomes, however, may offer more comprehensive information, according to the researchers.
The second international meeting on exosomes has just opened in Boston, and Mattias Belting and members of his team are there.
"It is very exciting to be part of the emergence of a novel research field. It can be anticipated that the most influential researchers in this area may one day be awarded the Nobel Prize," says Dr Belting.

Karl Deisseroth of Stanford University, Gero Miesenbck of the University of Oxford and Edward S. Boyden of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have been awarded Brandeis University's 16th Annual Jacob Heskel Gabbay Award in Biotechnology and Medicine.
The researchers are being honored for their contributions to the discovery and applications of optogenetics, a technology that allows scientists to control the brain's activity by genetically engineering neurons to fire in response to light. Hundreds of labs have started using the technique to manipulate brain activity in experimental animals, exploring the neurobiology of phenomena such as decision-making and neurodegenerative diseases. The technique is expected to have significant impact on the brain initiative just announced by President Obama.
Karl Deisseroth is the D. H. Chen Professor of Bioengineering and of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. He received his M.D., Ph.D from Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also did his internship and residency. He has been on the faculty of Stanford since 2004.
Gero Miesenbck is the Waynflete Professor of Physiology and Director of the Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour at the University of Oxford and a fellow of Magdalen College. He studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck and did postdoctoral work at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He was on the faculty of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Cornell University and Yale University before coming to Oxford in 2007. He is the founding director of the Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour.
Ed Boyden is Associate Professor, Media Lab and McGovern Institute for Brain Research, and Departments of Biological Engineering and Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in neurosciences from Stanford University and did postdoctoral work there with Karl Deisseroth. He moved to MIT in 2006 where he is now a member of the faculty.
The Jacob Heskel Gabbay Award in Biotechnology and Medicine was created by the Jacob and Louise Gabbay Foundation, and is given in recognition of scientists in academia, medicine, or industry whose work has outstanding scientific content and significant practical consequences in the biomedical sciences. The history of science suggests that most scientific revolutions are sparked by advances in practical areas, such as instrumentation and techniques. This year's honorees exemplify the spirit of this award in that their laboratory observations have led to significant practical consequences.
The award, given annually, consists of a $15,000 cash prize (to be shared in the case of multiple winners) and a medallion. The recipients travel to Brandeis University in the fall of each year and present a lecture on their work, followed by a dinner at which the formal presentation takes place. Nominations were solicited from selected scientists in industry and academia. A panel of distinguished researchers representing the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, as well as universities and schools of medicine, are assembled to consider nominations.
This year's symposium will take place on Thursday, October 10, at 3:30 p.m. in the Shapiro Campus Center theater. The talks are free and open to the public.

?You?re gay? Then we?re giving you up for adoption.? A married couple from South Carolina have caused public outrage in the US when they announced they would be giving their teenage daughter up for adoption ? just because of her sexual orientation.
The news sounds far-fetched. Abandoning one?s child for economic reasons is common, when the means to raise a human being in dignity are lacking, or for psychological reasons if the parent doesn?t feel ready to support and guide a child. However, this is the first noted case in which a parent gives a child up for adoption because the child is homosexual.
The case is even more striking because the child in question is not a baby, but a 16-year-old adolescent. To be abandoned at an age when you are fully aware of circumstances must be worse than being given up for adoption as a baby. However, the state of South Carolina has declared that the girl is legally adoptable and she is currently a ward of the state.
The girl, April Chadwell, must have thought deeply before announcing her sexuality to her family and, particularly because of her young age, she may have been anxious about doing so. But when it came to telling her parents, perhaps hoping for understanding and support from them, instead she was met with an unimaginable response.
Mrs. Chadwell explained to the press that the choice had been painful for her and her husband but that they were not able to deal with a situation they didn?t agree with ? and which they found incomprehensible and intolerable. They therefore turned to their local church, which they attended faithfully, and preferred to pray for April, who would be better off living with a family that knows how to treat her with love and tolerance.
Is it ever too late to take a step backwards, because of one?s own limitations and the awareness that one?s own behaviour might be more harmful to a child than giving that child up? Or, on the other hand, might the child suffer more, being aware that he or she is alone in the world just because their parents had strong views that their parental feelings were not able to overcome?

?As far as talking about any disappointments, I?m a Tennessee Titan now and I could really care less about that,? Pollard said, via John Glennon of the Tennessean.? ?I?ve talked about it too much and I?ve answered that question so many times, talking about mutiny and this and that and the Baltimore Ravens.
?Well you know what?? I?m no longer in Baltimore and I?m a Titan now.? [Titans] fans have embraced me.? They?ve been great.? For me, I?m ready to move on.? This is another chapter for me, and it?s going to be fun.?
Pollard previously complained about the perception that he was cut for voicing concerns in response to an invitation from coach John Harbaugh to do so.? As we understand it, however, Pollard?s comments in connection with the incident that a player described to Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports as ?practically a mutiny? were just one example of Pollard?s habit of complaining too loudly and/or talking too much.
The situation landed on his new team?s radar screen.? ?By the time Bernard came in here, that had all been reported and addressed, but we all talked it over,? Titans G.M. Ruston Webster said, via Glennon.? ?I feel like we?re good there and we?ve covered our bases.? His positives for us would definitely outweigh the negatives.?
Pollard clearly has the ability.? The problem is that he eventually wears out his welcome ? as he did in Kansas City, Houston, and then Baltimore.? With the Titans desperate to win, a one-year gamble on a guy who can perform at a high level justifies the risk.? Especially since the controversy surrounding his departure from the Ravens could prompt Pollard to dial it back a bit.
Then again, Pollard already has no misgivings when it comes to addressing the link between new Titans assistant Gregg Williams and last year?s bounty scandal.
?I?m one of those guys that continues to say you don?t have to pay me to go out there and knock the [heck] out of somebody because that?s something I love doing anyway,? Pollard said.? ?If anything, the club is already paying me to do that.? I?m not saying the club is provoking us to go out there and hit anybody, but just to get things done and to make things happen.?
Pollard is definitely going to make things happen in Tennessee.? Some good, some maybe not so good.? The Titans believe that, for now, the balance will tip toward the things that will help the team win games.
